A day at the Scottish games will prepare you nicely for the Gathering’s “crowning jewel” – the huge “Scottish Ceilidh” Saturday night at the Royal Canadian Legion in Perth-Andover!

Here you have a unique opportunity to get “up close and personal” with the imposing Massed Pipe Bands and the amazing skills of the Highland Dancers.

Headlining in 2009 will be the rollicking sounds of Newfoundland-based “SHANNYGANOCK” which translated from Gaelic, loosely means "creature of the night” – how appropriate! This 4-man energy band have charmed many audiences across Canada with their stirring ballads, powerful shanties, and rib-rattling jigs and reels.
Touring Alberta eight times as well as sojourns to British Columbia, Ontario and all Maritime Provinces in the past two years, they are a favourite with Festivals across the country. Last year they were awarded 4 Music Newfoundland and Labrador award wins including Entertainers of the Year, as well as a 2008 East Coast Music Award nomination for Roots Group.
